Traction Hobby RAM 1500: A 1/8-Scale Pickup for Scale Trail Driving

The licensed Traction Hobby RAM 1500 combines a detailed Dodge pickup body with a drivetrain you can configure from the transmitter. Switch between front-, rear- and four-wheel drive, select low or high gear, and operate the front and rear differential locks as the trail changes.

Choose it for scale pickup detail and a hands-on trail-driving setup. Independent front suspension, a solid rear axle and adjustable oil-filled shocks sit beneath a clipless body with a molded bed, folding mirrors, wipers, door handles and a simulated interior.

Key Features

More control than a fixed 4WD layout

Selectable FWD, RWD and 4WD work alongside a two-speed transmission with reverse. Low gear supports controlled obstacle work; high gear suits more open paths. Remote differential locks provide another drivetrain choice.

Pickup-style suspension and metal driveline

The chassis pairs independent front suspension with a solid rear axle and aluminum cantilever setup. Adjustable aluminum oil-filled coilovers allow tuning. The original specification lists ball bearings, metal driveshafts and metal driveline gears, excluding the spur gear.

Licensed body with controllable lighting

The clipless RAM 1500 body includes a molded bed and detailed cabin. Lighting covers headlights, taillights, fog lights, indicators, high/low beams, reverse and license-plate lights, with functions dependent on the selected electronics.

Optional suspension setup and winch preparation

Four-link suspension and sway bar accessory parts are included for optional setup. Winch mounting points are provided, but the winch itself is not included.

Brushed vs Brushless: Select the Complete Electronics Package

The current color selector lists Red, Blue, Grey, Orange, Dark Gray, White and Yellow. Choose the body color and Motor Version separately, then select the battery-and-charger option.

Include under Battery+Chargers adds one XT60 11.1V 50C 3S 5200mAh LiPo and one SKYRC MAX B6AC 80W balance charger. Not included excludes both. Check battery dimensions and compatibility with your selected power system before using an alternative pack.

The package supplies the selected RAM 1500 vehicle with its matching radio and electronics, plus four-link suspension and sway bar accessory parts for optional setup. The optional winch is excluded. Shipping package measurements are 78 × 36 × 35 cm and 12 kg, not the vehicle’s running weight.

Can it switch between FWD, RWD and 4WD?

Yes. The selectable drivetrain offers front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. Choose the mode for the route and operating conditions.

Are the front and rear differential locks remotely operated?

Yes. The transmitter controls the front and rear differential locks. Follow the supplied instructions for their setup and operation.

How do the brushed and brushless versions differ?

Brushed pairs a 775 motor and Hobbywing 880 ESC with a DumboRC DDF-350 radio and TH1435HV steering servo. Brushless uses the Fusion 8IGHT RTR 1800KV FOC system, FS-G7P radio with gyro receiver and TH1333 33kg steering servo. Both list a TH1036HV function servo.

Which battery fits the RAM 1500?

The supplied reference specifies 2–4S LiPo and a maximum pack size of 15 × 4.6 × 4.0 cm. Verify compatibility with the selected electronics, connector and instructions. The optional bundle uses an XT60 11.1V 50C 3S 5200mAh pack.

Does RTR include a battery and charger?

Only when Include is selected under Battery+Chargers. That option adds the listed battery and SKYRC MAX B6AC 80W balance charger. Not included excludes both.

Can the lights be controlled?

Yes. The listed lighting covers headlights, taillights, fog lights, indicators, high/low beams, reverse lights and license-plate lights. Available functions depend on the selected electronics configuration.

Is it suitable for technical trails?

Selectable drive modes, differential locks and low gear provide trail control, with 3.9 cm of listed ground clearance. The 74.3 cm pickup body requires careful line choice on narrow or uneven routes.

Is a winch included?

No. Mounting points are provided for an optional winch. Four-link suspension and sway bar accessory parts are listed as included for optional setup.

Is the whole truck waterproof?

Do not treat the brushed ESC’s splash-proof description as a waterproof rating for the entire vehicle. Check the limits of the installed electronics before driving through water.
